Cranes Orchards, Fennville 

Crane Orchards is one of the most popular orchards around as it has many activities besides fruit picking such as the Pie Pantry Restaurant and Bakery and “cow train” plus a corn maze, hayrides and Haunted Barn in the fall.

Cranes U-Pick Orchard, Fennville

One of the best orchards for u-pick fruit and vegetables in SW Michigan.  Cherries, peaches, nectarines, raspberries, plums, sweet corn, produce, blueberries, apples, pumpkins, chestnuts.  This Cranes is located on the NORTH side of the road.

Hiking

Sarett Nature Center, Benton Harbor

This unique nature center has five miles of trails meandering through its 800 acres.  The trail system includes boardwalks, observation platforms, and an easily accessible barrier-free walkway. Trails running along the Paw Paw River bluffs provide great views of the river valley below.

Ross Coastal Plain Marsh Preserve, Covert

This 1,449-acre preservecontains three coastal plain marshes (wet meadows that occur in sandy basins along the shores of small lakes and ponds and harbor plants and animals ordinarily found in marshes along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts).  The trails are somewhat rustic and in the heat of the summer, bug spray is highly recommended.

Biking

The Kal-Haven Trail, South Haven

The Kal-Haven Trail is a preferred destination for those who enjoy hiking, biking, cross county skiing and snowmobiling.  The 33 mile former railroad bed has a limestone/slag surface. Linking the cities of South Haven and Kalamazoo with a trail that crosses over bridges, passes through small towns and by points of historical interest. The new trail head is completed which extends the trail to downtown South Haven.

 

Van Buren Trail Spur, South Haven

The Van Buren Trail Spur, which opened in November 2015, offers a paved, off-road route from the southern outskirts of South Haven to Van Buren State Park. In South Haven, bike routes lead right to downtown and connect with the Kal-Haven Trail. 5.5 miles.

 

Blue Star Highway and backroads

The beginnings of a separate bike path have begun adjacent to Blue Star Highway (County Road A2), but bikers should feel comfortable sharing the roadway with motorists,  as bikes are a common site and drivers  tend to drive a little slower on this road. 

 

 

 

Golf

Beeches Golf Club, South Haven
